How did you get into the travel industry?
I took over my grandfather's business.  I started by filing and stamping brochures...look at me now!

Favorite thing about the travel industry?
Selling something that people want, need and that truly makes them happy. There is nothing better than seeing pictures of smiling people when clients return from a trip. Those people save me a ton of money on marketing.

Favorite destination and why?
Salzburg, Austria. It's one of the most beautiful cities on earth.  Good music, good beer, beautiful architecture and a central location in Europe. I am also a little biased, because I met my beautiful fiancé there.

What have you learned?
Enthusiasm for what you do is the easiest way to boost sales.

Where do you hope to see the industry in 10 years?
Honestly, right where it is now.  I think we are extremely lucky to be in the business today.  We have a highly educated consumer (thanks to the internet). The largest group of middle class/wealthy people in history, the baby boomers, are starting to retire; and they love to travel. What better time to sell travel?

Words of advice you would give to other young people coming into the industry?
Be a travel consultant, not a travel agent. People want advice and guidance, not just a booking. You have to sell yourself, not just your product. You MUST have product knowledge to be successful today.

If you have an online profile, what does or would your tagline be?
Been there, seen that; if not please let me go with you.

How has being a member of ASTA helped you in the industry?
Ideas. The networking opportunities with suppliers and other agents have been incredibly valuable to me.

Which ASTA benefit stands out as being the most valuable to your career?
Young Professional's Club has been the most beneficial.  I get to share ideas and learn from other open minded people.

What else do you think is important for other travel agents to know about you that was not included in the previous questions?
Avoid negativity at all times. We have the greatest job on earth....enjoy it.
